 WHO SHOULD APPLY?

===============

National Coach Certification Program (NCCP) requirements relating to High Performance 1 Certification indicate that:

  • All Head Coaches coaching U15 AAA, U17 AAA, U18 AAA, Female U18 AAA, CSSHL and Junior A teams that compete in Inter-provincial or National Championships or the highest level as determined by the Hockey Canada Provincial Member, must be High Performance 1 Certified. It is recommended that all Assistant Coaches be at minimum Development 1 trained.
  • All Head Coaches registered to teams leading to competition in Regional or National Championships (including all HCAS registered teams) must either be trained or certified at the High Performance 1 level by December 1 of the current season (BC Hockey Policy 10.04). Coaches are considered High Performance 1 "trained" after being credited for attending all modules of the HP1 seminar.

To obtain "certified" status, coaches must submit and pass the written assignment, pass the field evaluations, and pass the required CAC eLearning modules (Make Ethical Decisions, Managing Conflict, Leading Drug Free Sport) by October 15 of the second year after their seminar attendance date (BC Hockey Policy 10.04).

HP1 certification qualifies seminar delegates to coach the following categories:

  • Junior A (head coach)

  • CSSHL (head coach - U18 female prep, U18 prep, U17 prep, U15 prep, U15)

  • AAA (head coach - U18, Female U18, U17, U15)

All candidates applying for NCCP High Performance 1 will be subjected to a review and selection process by the BC Hockey Coaching Program. Acceptance is limited — not all applicants will qualify to attend the NCCP High Performance 1 Seminar.
